NCBB19 (aka Burning Loin IV)!

Welcome to the "official" website for the North Carolina Butt Blast!  This event will be the fourth gathering of Eggheads and people who like good barbecue from North Carolina and the surrounding areas.  Similar to Big Green Egg festivals, we will have a lot of people cooking on Big Green Eggs and offering up all kinds of barbecue.  We will also have some live entertainment at the Blast.  This year, The Gravy Boys will be at the Blast to play for attendees.

To get some idea of what this event is like, check out some of the pictures from 2018, 2017, or 2016.  We also have a video that was made from last year's event.

The event is being organized by members of the Big Green Egg forum.  There is a large group of organizers known as CHUBB, which stands for Council of Hacks Underwriting Butt Blast.

The event will be held on Saturday, April 13, from 10AM-3PM in Dan Nicholas Park.  We have reserved Shelter Number 2 (pictured above) in the Park for the Event.  The park is very family friendly and there are many activities for families with children.

The event is free and open to the public, but we are asking everyone to register so that we can get a good head count and coordinate activities.  Everyone is asked to register for the event at this page.  Please register as soon as possible to help us with planning the event.

More information about the park is provided on this page.

Information about travel and lodging is provided on this page

If you have any questions about the event, please send an email to ncburningloin@gmail.com.  We hope to see you at the Blast!!!

This event is sponsored by Rockwood Charcoal.  Thanks Rockwood!

Registration 2019

The Butt Blast is a free event.  There is no cost to attend or to sample any of the food that will be provided at the event.

Choose the number of tickets that matches the size of your party (including yourself).  Don't worry if you get the number wrong - you can always add more later.  Besides, we're only using these tickets to get a rough estimate for how many people are coming, and to blast out emails in case of rain or whatnot.

Most people will select a "Taster Ticket".  That is for anyone simply planning to come to the event and try some of the free food.

If you'd like to cook at the Blast, choose a cooker ticket.  Identifying yourself as someone planning to cook at the event will help us to coordinate the meals and their timing.

When you register you will be asked to provide an email address.  These addresses will not be published anywhere, and will be used by us to contact attendees to coordinate activities as the event approaches.

If you have questions about registration or the event, please send an email to ncburningloin@gmail.com.

Video from the 2018 Blast

Here's a video that Matt Hussey put together for the 2018 Blast.  Watching this video is probably the best way to get a sense of the event and the people behind it.
